Ms. Harkness' 6th grade classes made piñatas. Students were placed in groups of 3 or 4 students and gathered their supplies: a balloon, flour, water, newspaper, colored paper and glue for decorating and candy to fill it with. Newspaper strips were dipped in the flour and water mixture and wrapped around an inflated balloon. After the newspaper strips dried the piñatas were decorated with colorful paper and then filled with candy. When the piñatas were completed the students took them out to the soccer field and hung them on a goal. Students were blindfolded and took turns hitting the piñatas with a bat until the candy fell to the ground.
