Heather Simon, band teacher at Beck Academy, wins national contest for a music room makeover. The contest is the Second Annual In Tune Ultimate Music Room Makeover Contest sponsored by Buffet Crampon, Pearl, Notion, and Pro Mark. Mrs. Simon wrote an essay about why her school deserved new instruments and how her students can use the instruments to learn music. The essay was chosen as the top entry in the contest.

The band program will receive guitars, amplifiers, and microphones from Peavey, a drum kit from Pearl, a euphonium, clarinet, oboe, tenor saxophone and trombone from Buffet Crampon, music software from Notion, and various sticks and mallets from Pro Mark. The prizes total over $25,000 in equipment.

In Tune magazine Chief Executive Officer, Irwin Kornfield, presented the instruments and equipment to Beck Academy on Tuesday, October 16, 2007, in the band room. The story will be included in In Tune magazine.
