Registration Information for 4K, K5, and 1st grade

Parents are encouraged to pre-register their children for 4 or 5 year-old Kindergarten or first grade for the next school year during a special pre-registration period. K 5and 1st grade registration dates are January 22 and January 25. 4K registration dates are January 30th through February 1. Students must be 4 for 4K, 5 for k5, and 6 years of age for 1st grade on or before September 1st to enter each respective program. Greenville County parents are reminded that children who will be five years old on or before September 1, must enroll in public or private kindergarten, unless the parent or legal guardian signs a waiver.

K5 and 1st grade Information
Greenville County Schools offer full-day 5 year old to enroll a new student; a parent must go to their assigned school and present the following:

• a state issued birth certificate   
• a properly completed immunization certificate or religious objector's statement or
• a social security card (requested, not required) or
• proof of residence -accepted documentation includes one of the following:
•  lease agreement or
• a utility bill with-in last the 30 days or
•  paycheck stub or
•  letters from DSS

 K5 and 1st Grade Registration Forms:

• Primary Language Form/ (En español)

*If a parent does not know their assigned school, they may call INFO Line at 355-3100 Parents may request a change in school assignment by going to the school they would like to attend and completing a Change in School Assignment request form. The parent is still required to register the rising 5K or 1st grade child at the assigned school during the pre-registration time.

4K Information
Four year old Kindergarten programs are offered for eligible students to ensure school success. Parents can pre-register at any school that currently has a 4K program during the pre-registration time. They are not required to live in the attendance area of that school to register at that location.Space is limited. Required information:

• Child's birth certificate,
• immunization record and social security card (requested, not required).
• two forms of proof of residency (accepted forms of residence is the same as 5K and 1st grade)

*Pre-registered applicants will be contacted to schedule a screening appointment. Registration does not guarantee enrollment in the 4K program. All registered children are screened and ranked district-wide. Eligibility is based on the academic needs of the child. The state requires that priority be given to those students who can benefit the most.
