GCS Player of the Week - November 19
As we transition from Fall to Winter sports, this weeks “GCS Player of the Week” takes us to Travelers Rest High to meet the back to back Class AAA State Champion in girls golf, Victoria Huskey.
After a 78 on day 1, Victoria trailed the leaders by 3-strokes. She made birdies on 15, 16 and 17, down the stretch to shoot a 68 (146 overall) and claim her second consecutive state title.
As a team, the Devildogs finished runners-up to St. James. Huskey shot a146; Beth Ann Townsend 163; Ashley Looper 172; Alivia Waynick 180; Hailey Heath 204.
Huskey’s win put her on the AAA All-State team. In Class AAAA, Ashley Czarnecki of Mauldin finished as runner-up and was named to the AAAA All-State team. Mauldin finished 5th and Greenville tied for 10th overall.
