Students attending Greenville County Schools will not have to make up the fourth day they missed earlier in the year due to snow and icy conditions following action today by the Greenville County School Board to forgive the missed school day.

Recently approved State legislation grants authority to local school boards to forgive up to three missed days beyond the three required makeup days. The legislation carries over to future years, eliminating the need for annual consideration by the Legislature and Governor.

GCS students missed four school days in February due to inclement weather. Students made up two of the three missed days on March 9 and April 6, and will make up the final missed day on Friday, June 5, which becomes the last day for students. The last three days of school for GCS students - Wednesday, June 3 through Friday, June 5 - will be half-days.
