The Eastside Special Education Department has 4 Self- Contained Classes. One is for Trainable Mentally Disabled students and three are for Occupational Diplomas. Of the three Occupational classes these are split up into Neurological and Learning disabilities and Educable Mentally Disabled. Through the Occupational Diploma program students work 120 hours of Job Shadowing their Junior Year and 360 hours paid employment their senior year in order to graduate. Through this program, students learn job and people skills.
Just like all students at Eastside these students must earn 24 total credits in English, Math, Science/Health and Career Preperation (Social Studies). They earn numerical grading just like all at Eastside.
This program offers great opportunities to the students that enter Eastside as they learn to communicate with people and work well with them.
